A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He touched so many lives and was always providing support and words of wisdom. His witty and playful sense of humor made others smile both during happy and difficult times. He will be deeply missed and will forever remain in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.
Wally was passionate in everything he put his heart and mind into. He and his father, Walter C. Andersen were general contractors and realtors working together in IL. From 1962-1976, his family lived in the home he built in Darien, IL. One of his proud accomplishments was becoming a business owner of Aqua Sentry Pools in Scottsdale, AZ.
“He is like a man who is building a house dug deeply and laid its foundation on rock. When the
Flood rose, it burst against the house that could not shake it because it had been solidly constructed.”
Luke 6:48
He was an avid fisherman who also loved sports, particularly “Da” Bears, NFL fantasy football, music, gardening, and baking.
Wally is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Fettig) of 58 magical years, sister Charlene Michalek (Jim); his children Cindy Johnson (John), Wendy Krieg (Scott), Mark Andersen (LaDonna); grandchildren Christopher, Tyler, Kyle, Collin, Johnny, Chloe, Paul and Elyse; great grandchildren Andrew, Landon, and Layton; brother-in-law Thomas Fettig (Lena) and sister-in-law Carolyn Elsing.
His wife and children will remember him for his love, kindness, corny jokes, candy runs, evenings of dancing to his rock-in-roll piano playing, watching sci-fi movies, sleeping in the 1967 Chevy Panel Truck “Wally Wagon” on fishing trips, making homemade pizzas and so many more treasured memories.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. Andersen and Dorothy (O’Gara), brother Danny Andersen and son Wally M. Andersen.
