Ginny was born April 15, 1938 in Jamestown, ND to parents Oliver William (Mac) McClain and Minnie Agnes McClain (Petersen).
Ginny attended South Dakota State College in Brookings, where she received her associate degree. She worked in the funeral home business for Werness Brothers Funeral Homes and SCI (Service Corporation International) for more than 30 years retiring as the Regional Director of Administration.
Growing up in Sioux Falls, SD, Ginny moved to the Minneapolis, then Bloomington, MN after graduating from college, and after her promotion to Western Regional Director, moved to Los Angeles, San Diego and ultimately settled in Sun City, where she resided for the last three decades.
Ginny was extremely active in her community, giving of her time and talent for organization and accounting. She was active in Toastmasters, Soroptimists, and was President of her Homeowners Association. Her charitable giving included St. Joseph’s Indian School, World Wildlife Fund, the SPCA, and numerous animal shelters where she regularly adopted her beloved cat companions.
She was a long time and very active member of Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Sun City where she became a Stephen Minister, devoting her time to one-on-one support of those in need.
Ginny will always be remembered for her sense of humor, infectious laugh, her caring and devotion to her family and friends and her willingness to volunteer her time helping others.
Ginny is survived by her Sons Patrick E. Lien (Jodi) of Orlando FL, and Dougles Schnoor (Sandra) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, her Son-in-law Chris Hogate of Chesapeake, VA. Grandchildren Patrick J. Lien (Jillian) Chesapeake, VA, Connor Lien (Jennifer) of Clermont, FL, Jessica Lien of St. Petersburg, FL; Douglas, Danielle and Dillon Hogate of Chesapeake, VA; Joseph Schnoor (Jessica) of La Fayette, GA, Nicholas Schnoor of Ft Lauderdale, FL, and Fayth Schnoor of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Great-Grandchildren Jordyn and Josie Lien, and Connor Lien Jr. and by her sister, Carolyn McClain of Cape Coral, FL.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Julie Ann Hogate.
Ginny will be interred at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to Willowbrook United Methodist Church, 19390 N. 99th Avenue, Sun City, AZ 85373 in honor of Virginia McClain.
