Ed Clark of Yorba Linda, CA passed away peacefully at his home on December 24, 2022.
Ed’s passion for life and community inspired him to develop relationships and experience life. He became involved in many areas including his church, various social organizations as well as a lifelong love of golf and traveling. He influenced others with his great personality, positive outlook and willingness to help others without regard for himself.
Ed was born on July 24, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Shawnee High School where he lettered in football, baseball, and track. He attended Purdue University where he majored in Aeronautical Engineering and married his high school sweetheart, Patsy Bratcher. They would remain together in life for the next 67 years.
Ed worked in the Aerospace industry for over 38 years, the last 30 years at Northrop starting at the Space Labs in Huntsville, Alabama, then moving to the Electro-Mechanical Division in Anaheim, California where he focused on development of various missile systems and infrared sensing systems. Also, He served on a NATO Industrial Advisory Group and as Chairman for the American Astronomical Society’s annual technical meeting.
After retiring in 1994, Ed focused on traveling the world with Patsy, re-establishing relationships with friends from earlier in life and publishing extensive photo diaries of the places they visited. As an active member of the Yorba Linda Country Club, he served as Treasurer for the Men’s Association. He was committed to his faith and was very active at the Placentia Presbyterian Church leading the new church building effort, presenting in the Sunday morning services and as Treasurer for the Charity’s Closet thrift store in Placentia.
In 2017 he became a Docent at the Nixon Presidential Library, where he enjoyed meeting and talking to visitors from all over the world. In his spare time, Ed loved playing golf and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Uhlan and Mary Clark of Louisville, Kentucky and his sister Judy Kiray of Fischer, Indiana. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Patsy Bratcher Clark, his son Steven Clark (Linda) and his daughter Denise Clark (Julie) of Yulee, Florida. It was Ed’s wish to be cremated so that his remains could stay with Patsy to watch over her until she joins him again. No service is planned, but the family welcomes your prayers and phone calls.
