In 1958 she married the love of her life, Richard Pristash in Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers where she remained a parishioner. He pre-deceased her in 2003.
She graduated from Commerce High School and worked for Ward Leonard until she began her family. Once her children got older she went back to work in the cafeteria at Sacred Heart where she enjoyed interacting with the students of all ages. After retiring she went back to Sacred Heart as a volunteer working with the kindergarten class.
Joan enjoyed her time at the Jersey shore as well as trips to Atlantic City. She never missed The Price is Right or Wheel of Fortune. She was happiest when surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her three daughters, Lynn McKee, Nancy Pristash, Joanne Winterbourne and her son-in-law Peter Winterbourne. She was pre-deceased by her son-in-law John Mckee. She leaves behind her five grandchildren, Heather, Christopher(Lisa), Jonathan, Scott and Nicholas and her three great-grandchildren, Julian, Jaden and Alyssa as well as her siblings, Dorothy Farnesi, Thomas (Gail) Cieslinski and Robert (Francine) Cieslinski as well as many nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten and her memory will remain in the hearts of all those who loved her.
A visitation for Joan will be held Sunday, July 7th and Monday, July 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whalen & Ball. A Mass of Christian burial will occur Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers. A committal service will occur Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 209 Truman Avenue, Yonkers.
