She was born on January 3, 1926 to Americo and Alice Ruggieri DeDivitis in Yonkers where she was raised and educated, graduating from Commerce High School. Mrs. Stewart was a cafeteria worker for Yonkers public schools for 25 years until her retirement in 1991. She was a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Church and a member of their Rosary Altar Society. She was a volunteer at St. John’s Riverside Hospital for twenty years and she enjoyed cooking and was a super avid N.Y. Knick basketball fan. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. On September 19, 1948, she married her loving husband, John N. Stewart in St. Joseph Church. Mr. Stewart died on December 24, 2008. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Thomas and her husband Fred of Yonkers, two sons, John Stewart, Jr. and his wife Frances of Yonkers and James Stewart of Yonkers and a sister, Anne DeDivitis of Yonkers. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Christine, Brian, Matthew, Kathryn, Melissa, Joseph, Anthony and Taylor Marie and 4 great grandchildren, Aidan, Gillian, Scarlett and Julia.. She was predeceased by a brother, John DeDivitis and a sister, Delores Grohowski. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Christ the King Church on Wednesday May 9th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
