George A. Mahonski, Sr, a resident of White Plains, formerly of Yonkers died on Thursday March 19, 2015 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 78 years old. He was born on June 14, 1936 to Andrew and Anne Harilla Mahonski in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Mahonski was a weigh scale supervisor for Westchester County in White Plains, Yonkers and most recently in Mt. Vernon for twenty seven years until his recent illness. He was a member of the CSEA 9200 Union. Mr. Mahonski served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of St. Casimir’s Church. “He was very proud of his Polish heritage; Family gatherings were always very special to him.” Survivors include three daughters, Sandra, Patricia and Theresa Mahonski. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, George Mahonski, Jr, a brother, Rev. Thomas J. Mahonski and three sisters, Joan F. Brown, Marjorie A. Docos and Dorothy A. Fitzpatrick. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Casimir’s Church on Monday March 23rd at 11am. Final disposition will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
