Carolyn P. Oakley

Carolyn was born and raised in Yonkers, NY where she lived for most of her life.

Carolyn attended Yonkers schools and graduated from Commerce High School. Out of high school she worked for the County Trust Bank. Carolyn later owned and operated The Corner Store in Yonkers for many years. Afterward she was again employed by the County Trust Bank and then The Bank of New York. Carolyn retired from The Bank of New York after being a Branch Manager and Assistant Treasurer.

Carolyn was a member of the Yonkers Emblem Club for many years. She was also a member of the Yonkers Police Policeman’s Wives Association where she was a past president. Carolyn enjoyed Bingo, Bowling, and regular trips to Atlantic City, NJ.

Carolyn was predeceased by her father, John R. Barton (Killed in Action, WWII); mother, Christine Mattisson: and step father Bertil Mattisson.

Carolyn is survived by Edward Oakley, her loving husband of more than 63 years. She is also survived by her son John Oakley; son Marvin Oakley, daughter-in-law Andrea Davis Oakley and their 2 children Tyler and Matthew.

Visiting hours for Carolyn will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Ave, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706.
