Antoinette Marie Brown was born on August 25,1968 in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Alvester Maryland and Marsha Nadine Maryland. "Nette" as she was affectionately known, was the second oldest only because, her twin sister the late Yvette Loadholt made her way into this world a whole hour before. Antoinette use to joke saying, it took her an hour after Yvette to come out because she was sharing space for 9 months and needed to stretch for a little while. She has two younger siblings Brother Wayman Goree and Sister LaToya Dawson. Antoinette was educated in the Ossining public school system graduating from Ossining High School in 1987. Even though she was a young mother she took her education serious, graduating with a Bachelor's in graphic design. After receiving her bachelor's Antoinette landed a job with Journal News in Yonkers, NY as a graphic designer.
In 1987 Antoinette started her family giving birth to three children who she loved and adored. Kenneth Miller (1987), Kiara Miller (1991) and her baby boy the late Elac-Zar Brown (1993). She loved her children dearly and always made sure she was just a call away when they needed her. In 2006 after the unexpected death of her youngest son Elac-Zar, she really struggled and began digging deeper in building her relationship with God. While growing her faith she found comfort and guidance with Rev. Dr. Gregory K Moss, Sr. who would lead her in prayer and help guide her through some of her hardest times.
Antoinette was a lupus warrior being diagnosed with the disease in 2003. She was strong and never allowed having lupus control her life. Complaining was not a thing. She focused on living and put all of her love into those around her. Lupus was something she had, but she made sure it didn't control who she was and all that she was able to do.
Antoinette played many roles she was a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend however, grandma or as her grandchildren would say "Mimi" was the role that she enjoyed most besides being a mother to her children. She had two grandchildren, Grandson Josiah Cason and Granddaughter Nylah Santiago. To say she poured all of her love into them would be an understatement. Her grandchildren filled some of the empty spaces that she had in her heart. Their love was a constant dose of a healing remedy that only they had the recipe to. She would always post pictures of them especially when they would spend time with her during the summer in North Carolina.
Antoinette was extremely loving, caring and always tried to keep those around her motivated. She gave unconditional love to everyone in her life. You could feel the love from her even in a simple conversation. No matter what kind of day she may have been having, she always made sure to ask you about your day. Her spirit was unmatched and her energy was so positive. With everything life brought her good or bad she always chose to continue pushing forward.
Antoinette was an artist and used art as a way to express herself. She also enjoyed playing games and taking those silly Facebook quizzes. If you knew her then you also knew not to let that loving personality fool you. she didn't take any mess and always told it like it was. When you wanted someone's honest opinion and sometimes even when you didn't want an opinion at all, she was there to give it to you in such a loving manner. She didn't only talk, she took the time to listen and to actually hear you. She was the best combination of sugar and spice.
Antoinette shared a tight bond with her best friends Diane and Tracy. They were more than best friends to her, they were her sisters not through blood but through love. Yes, you are born into a family that is already created for you, but the family that you take the time to hand pick yourself means just as much. She chose them and they chose her too. She trusted them to know her truth and to love her no matter what, to laugh with her when she needed a good laugh, to hang out and get out of the house. They were there to do everything that good girlfriends do. They were there for her, giving her love and receiving love from her they will remember forever.
Over the years lupus took a toll on Antoinette and her health unfortunately begin to decline. Antoinette Marie Brown departed this life on October 18,2023 in Charlotte, North Carolina. God called her home, his time of sharing her with us sadly came to an end. Here journey on earth was over but a new journey was set to begin. A journey of perfection, where she would be perfect, free of pain, heartache and disease. Being reunited with some of the people she had missed so much. To gain the wings she was so deserving of.
