Shawn will be missed dearly by his family. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his rare ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Born August 9, 1961 in Pittsfield Massachusetts at St. Luke’s hospital, he is the oldest of 3 siblings. Growing up in Westminster Massachusetts Shawn enjoyed many sports. This interest continued into college at Franklin Pierce University where he played basketball and graduated with his degree in business management. He was particularly fond in his younger years and of the time he spent at York beach living and working with his brother and friends. Shawn was an Independent Sales Representative for Industrial Manufacturing companies covering a variety of industries & applications such as Naval, Aerospace, and energy sectors. He was extremely charismatic and took immense pride in his work and the relationships he created. Shawn will also be remembered for helping coach his son Dylan’s basketball teams for years. The time spent with those teams growing up is something that played a huge part in their childhoods and will forever be appreciated by everyone who was a part of that “family”.
He was predeceased by his father Everett Kelsey, grandparents Dr. and Mrs. Kearons Whalen of Pittsfield MA, and Mr and Mrs Everett Kelsey of Lenox MA.
Shawn is survived by his mother Patricia Whalen Kelsey, his son Dylan Kelsey, his daughter Elena Kelsey( Matt) brother Craig (Heather)Kelsey, and sister Johanna Kelsey (Tracy Fitzsimmons) nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thanks to his cousin Reeves Whalen who helped us throughout the entirety of this difficult time and was someone Shawn held close to his heart from the years he enjoyed spending around his uncle Kearons.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Rd, Scarborough, ME 04074 in appreciation for the care they provided our father. Shawn will be truly missed.
