Andrew Thomas Leighton

Warren, ME ~ Andrew T Leighton, 51, joined his mother in heaven on October 1, 2018, after a brief illness. Andy was born on November 5, 1966 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Son of Thomas M. Leighton and the late Shirley T. Leighton.

Andy grew up in Falmouth and attended local schools through the eighth grade. He graduated from Cheverus High School, Cum Laude, in 1985, where he excelled in Greek, Latin, and French. He continued his education at Northeastern University in Boston, and at the University of Southern Maine, where he graduated with a BA in English Literature.

Andy's favorite memories were fishing on McCurda Pond in Breman, with his grandfather. In later years he enjoyed fishing, boating, and swimming at his parents summer home in Harpswell. He was a kind, gentle, soul who was always defending anyone who was weaker. He will be greatly missed by all who knew, and loved, him.

Andy is survived by his son, Cooper, and daughter, Teegan of Onancock, VA; his father Tom of Cumberland; his sister Kate Keene and her husband RJ, nephews William and Andrew Keene, niece Hannah Keene all of Kennebunk; his Uncle Porter Leighton and Aunt Patricia Leighton of Falmouth; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Episcopal Church of Saint Mary, 43 Foreside Road, Falmouth.
