March 10, 1919, to Andy Shepherd and Agnes(Wilder) Shepherd. At the age of 6 the family moved to Yakima and lived on Naches Heights.
Thelma married Merten E. Sanislo in May, 1939 and they had 72 years together. She worked at Hahn Motors and retired as accountant secretary from West Valley School District in 1983. Thelma and Mert spent many retirement winters in Mesa and Apache Junction, AZ. She was a 5th Degree Member of Washington State Grange since 1941, a Life member of the Public School Employees of Washington, and Isabella #23 Rebekah lodge for over 25 years.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Beyersdorf (Paul) of Merritt Island, FL; daughter-in law Rebecca Sanislo of Yakima, brother William B. Shepherd (Marge) of Yakima; seven grandchildren; Brian A. Sanislo (Talani) of Post Falls, ill, Dennis B. Sanislo of Seattle; Michael O. Beyersdorf (Julie) of Kingsport, TN, James M. Beyersdorf (Harmony) of Madison, AL, Howard P. Goodrich (Elinda) of Spokane, David Goodrich of Yakima and Theresa Goodrich of Yakima; eight great grandchildren; Alex, Emily and Katie Beyersdorf of Kingsport, TN, Colin, Nathan and Evan of Madison, AL, Jeffrey Goodrich (Melissa) of Spokane, Emily Fuller of Spokane; one great-great grandchild MaKenna Goodrich of Spokane. She leaves many friends, nieces and nephews who will have fond memories of her.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Merten E. Sanislo on July 29, 2011 and a son, Bruce L. Sanislo on April 25, 2010.
Veiwing will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at West Hills Memorial Park on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. There is a memorial service pending for later in July with time and date to be announced.
