Roger was born on February 18, 1936 in Flasher, North Dakota and graduated from Naches High School in 1955. Right out of high school he married his high school sweetheart Betty Dolliver. Roger joined the Army and was stationed in France. Roger and Betty traveled Europe and took in all the sights from the Vatican City to the Chalets of Switzerland. He loved to tell of the travels he and Betty shared together.
On top of the world is the best way to describe Roger. After 41 years with Boise Cascade he retired to live the high-life (literally). There were no mountains that couldn’t be climbed, airplanes that couldn’t be built or dogs that couldn’t be loved. He cherished his family and enjoyed their outings; skiing, snowmobiling, mountain climbing, flying, or taking trips, it didn’t matter as long as they could all be together.
Roger stood high above the average father and will be greatly missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty in 2006. He is survived by his children, Roger Friesz, Jr. and wife Lynda; Susan Hunter-Eaton and husband Ted; and Richard Friesz and wife Linda. He will also be greatly missed by his 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
