He was born in Crystal Lake, Michigan on January 10, 1937 but was raised in Selah, WA where he graduated in 1955 from Selah High School.
In 1968 Ted started his own business, A-1 Pool and Patio Supply and continued to work and operate the business with his son, Darin. He was an avid horseman and for several years he bred, raised and raced thoroughbreds. He had many successes with his horses which brought him great joy. He bought a small farm so he could watch them grow and take care of them himself. Ted also loved to sit in his easy chair on the ranch listening to old-time country music and catching a rerun of Hee Haw.
Ted had many dear friends in his life; he was a man that made friends easily and never met a stranger.
He was the proud grandfather of Regan and Reid. They were the apples of his eye, whom he loved and adored. He loved his sisters, Sue and Kay and brother, Jack, who he enjoyed talking and laughing with nightly. Last but not least, Ted was a great father to Darin and DeAnn who loved, respected, and just plain adored him.
Ted is survived by a daughter, DeAnn Donaldson, a son Darin Donaldson and his wife, Renae and their two children, Regan and Reid; two sisters Sue Mittendorf, Kay Widick and her husband Tom; a brother Jack Donaldson and his wife, Joyce; his former wife (and after all these years still friend) Ludvina Donaldson; a sister-in-law Loy Donaldson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur, mother Ferne, and brother Robert “Bob” and infant brother, Joed.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel.
