Pauline Dean

Pauline was born March 11, 1916 in Linton, ND to Fred and Johanna (Naaz) Weishaar, the eldest of nine children. She moved from North Dakota to Montana at a young age and completed her education there. She later moved with her family to Yakima where she worked at various jobs around the valley.

While employed at Hatfields in Yakima, she met Al Dean and they were married on November 8, 1947. Sons Gary, Larry and Stan were welcomed into their lives in the following years.

In her younger years, Pauline enjoyed family activities with her husband and sons going camping and Jeeping. She was close with her brothers and sisters, often playing cards, dancing and sharing family dinners with them. She was an amazing cook and baker and her young sons’ birthdays were always celebrated with special cakes she would design.

After retirement she and Al enjoyed winters traveling to Arizona in their motor home, driving to Reno with her sisters and their husbands for a little slot machine action, raising a huge vegetable garden and playing Saturday night poker with family members.

Pauline is survived by her sons Stan Dean and Gary Dean (Sue) all of Selah; sisters Anne Rhine of Yakima, Irene Johnson of Post Falls, ID and brother Bill Weishaar of Las Vegas, NV. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Al, a son, Larry Dean, sister Alice Daily, brothers John Weishaar, Fred Weishaar, Alvin Weishaar, and Gus Weishaar.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Yakima Humane Society in care of Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Friday, January 26, 2018 at 12:30 at Rainier Memorial Center. Pauline will be laid to rest at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
