May 6, 1966 – December 10, 2024
Nelson Andino, 58, passed away on December 10, 2024, at Madigan in Tacoma, Washington, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family and friends.
Born on May 5, 1966, in Hoboken, NJ, Nelson was the beloved son of Sarah Andino and Abinael Diaz. He grew up alongside his sisters Carmen Andino, Sarah Andino, and Beatrice Ramirez, and later became the proud and loving father of Calvin and Shannon Andino.
Nelson’s life was a testament to perseverance. Despite a tough upbringing, he beat the odds and refused to become a statistic. In 1988, he joined the United States Army, where he served with honor and distinction for 24 years, completing seven tours and earning the admiration of all who served beside him.
Nelson wasn’t perfect—he never claimed to be. He was thick-headed, stubborn as they come, and could hold a grudge like it was an Olympic sport. But if you were lucky enough to be loved by Nelson, you knew a love that was fierce, loyal, and unwavering. He gave more than he took, cared more than he showed, and fought harder than anyone else when it came to his family and friends.
He was the man you could count on, the voice that could make you laugh when you wanted to cry, and the hero who taught us all that redemption is possible, even if it’s not always pretty.
Nelson leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and honor. He was our brother, our father, our friend, and our warrior. His imperfections made him real, his heart made him unforgettable, and his life made him irreplaceable.
Nelson, you gave us laughter when we needed it, love when we didn’t deserve it, and memories we’ll carry forever. You were one hell of a man—our hero forever.
