Karen Diane Shephard, born February 27th, 1957 has gone to be with her Squirty. Karen was born the youngest of three children to Lloyd Herald Shephard and Geraldine (Gerri) Joy Shephard. Karen was one of those people that you just had to know in order to understand what a great loss she will be to those in her life. She would always attest that her best days were spent working on the Italian cruise ships and serving at Gasperetti’s where she met many people that loved her in a way you could only love Karen. If you ever wanted to hear a good story all you had to do was give her a call and she’d tell you all about her day. Karen took the everyday things and turned them into something special, no matter how great or small.
She was good at making you feel comfortable, well taken care of and always knew how to make you laugh. Karen never wanted anything to get too serious. She’d make light of even the darkest situations by cracking jokes and kidding around; her presence was always uplifting.
Her last couple of years were faced with some major medical battles that she unfortunately did not win. Thankfully her spirit was alive and well up until almost the very end. She was truly one of the most unique personalities that has ever lived. You had to know her to understand that this woman was undefinable. Karen marched to the beat of her own drum and that’s what made her so special. Her light in this world will be missed but her memory will light the way towards a more fun-loving, kind and caring world, exactly the way Karen would have wanted it.
She leaves behind a sister Kathy, brother Steve, nephews Tyler and Jeremy, niece Chantelle, several cousins and Bill Cook.
Viewing will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 4 until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 7th at 1 pm.
