Dad spent his early years in Minnesota. He attended Cathedral High School. He joined the Navy on February 14, 1945 and served on the USS Prometheus in the Pacific Theater in WWII. He was released from Active Duty on February 14, 1948 and served in the Naval Reserve until retirement on April 21, 1983 with the rank of Chief Boatswain’s Mate.
Upon separation from Active Duty, Dad moved to Wapato to be with his father. He met and ultimately married Margaret Golob. They resided in Yakima their entire married lives. Their union lasted for 62 years.
Dad retired from the US Post Office in 1983, and enjoyed monthly dinners with other Post Office retirees for many years.
Dad and Mom raised a family of 8 kids, Bob, Linda, Larry, Doug, Steve, Diane, Greg and Mary. He was so proud of each of his kids and even more proud of the 13 grandchildren that came along.
Dad took us on family vacations every year and too many weekend camping trips with friends and family to count. He was Pack Leader, Scout Master and baseball coach. We have the best memories of these special times.
Dad was a "Jack" of all trades. He could build, plumb, wire and work on any car. He knew where every tool, nail, screw, nut and bolt were in his garage and shop. He grew a garden each year that could feed an army. He loved those fresh veggies!
Dad was a member of Holy Redeemer Church and a belonged to the Holy Names Society for many years.
