Jim, as he preferred to be called, passed away on December 6th 2016. He was 71 years old. Jim was born October 27th, 1945 to John and Ella Rogers in Powersite, Missouri. He and his family moved to the Yakima Valley when he was a young child. He attended Davis High School where he was a star athlete. He graduated in 1964.
Jim met his wife Debra (Stidham) in 1974 when they were both in the Army. They got married in 1975 when they were stationed in Monterey, California. The Army transferred them to Heidelburg, Germany then to San Antonio, Texas. In 1979, when Jim and his wife had completed their military service, they moved to Yakima.
Over the years, Jim had several career changes. His last job was as a Salesman at Canopy Country RV. He enjoyed this job very much until his health forced him to “retire” in 2006.
Jim is survived by his Debra, his wife of 41 years; their two sons, Ryan Rogers and Andrew Rogers. He is also survived by his daughters Lynne (Rogers) Olmos, Stacy (Rogers) Jackson, and Rebecca Rogers; grandchildren Fiona Thornton, Tieg Thornton, Connor Morson, Carli Jackson and two of his nine siblings, Virginia (Ginny) Kirby and Mary (Beth) Miller.
Jim really really liked sports – especially football, baseball, golf and car racing. He had a great sense of humor and a wonderful attitude. He liked to organize and give advice. HE LOVED HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be scheduled after the Holidays and winter weather so that out-of-town family and friends can get here safely.
