Deb, beloved daughter, sister, and friend passes away unexpectedly on August 15, 2011. Deb was born in Yakima, WA on November 8, 1953 to William and Norma (Hood) Krautwurm. She lived in the Yakima Valley all of her life. She graduated from Eisenhower High school in 1971. She briefly attended WSU.
Deb began her career with a locally owned firm that later became Fred S. James and ultimately after several name changes, Wells Fargo Insurance Services. She began in the private client services department, moving through the commercial account manager role and was currently serving as producer/accountant executive. She loved the work, the challenges and the ability to satisfy clients day after day.
When not working, Deb enjoyed time with her family, serving the community through various community organizations, puttering around her home and garden, spending time with her two Scottish terriers, feeding her addiction to golf and traveling with her friends throughout the USA and abroad. She was always willing to try a new place- at least once.
Debs devotion to the Rotary was paramount in her life. She was elected to be the first woman President of the Downtown Rotary in 2002 (serving on many committees over the years.) she was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Yakima Rotary Trust in 2005. Deb was instrumental in establishing the Rotary Trust College Scholarship Program which was funded by a $20 million gift. In July 2011, she became the President of the Rotary Trust Board. She was revered by her fellow Rotarians. She personified the Rotary mantra of “service above self” as a Rotarian and in her profession and personal life/
Deb had a very engaging personality with a continuous twinkle in her eye. Her generosity of spirit was a gift to all who knew her. She was loved and adored by an extended family of friends.
Deb was preceded in death by her father William and her brother William Edwin. She is survived by her mother, Norma, her two Scottish Terriers – Isabel and Piper, three aunts and two uncles, and numerous cousins and beloved friends.
