Darlene M. Kuntz

Darlene was born May 13, 1937 to Jacob & Amelia (Redinger) Achtenberg in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Upon moving to Yakima in 1968, she started working at The Cozy Café. She soon would buy the café & operated it until 1978. In 1979 she worked at Lamonts & Gottschalks until retiring in 2004.

She married her best friend & companion of many years Charlie in Dec. 2004. She raised her family in Moxee, WA.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Baker, her daughter Kathleen A. (Richard) Beglund, her parents & numerous siblings.

She is survived by her brother Virgil (Eunice) Achtenberg of Hysham, MT, her daughters Karen (Terry) Meara & Karla Kuntz, her sons Keith (Melita) Kuntz & Kevin (Stephanie) Kuntz, her grandchildren Sheena & Shane Meara, Michelle (Justin) Berglund Harper, Allie & James Kuntz, Jordan Kuntz, Olivia & Killian Vance, and her great-grandchildren Chloe & Lincoln Harper.

The family would like to extend a truly heartfelt thank you to the first responders, doctors & staff at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital for always doing everything possible to save my mom’s life & give her the best care possible. Dr. Paul Emmons, Dr. Gaskill & all the staff at Living Care Summitview Health Care Center for the many years of caring for our mom. We truly appreciate all the support & love you all have shown.

At our mom’s request there will be no services.

May you rest in peace now and enjoy life with Charlie & Kathy. We know we will see you again someday, just know we love you & miss you so very much mom.
