Carole Ann Allen was born to Virginia Todd and Ellwood Allen on October 14, 1941, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Yakima. Her father died when she was an infant, and she was lovingly raised by her mother and Eugene Christianson, who she married in 1943. Carole attended Hoover Elementary, Franklin Middle, and Davis High School, graduating in 1959. Soon after high school she met Chris Sagare, whom she dated and later married in July 1965. The couple lived in Seattle and had one daughter, Tricia. They divorced and Carole and Tricia moved back to Yakima.
Carole worked at New York Life Insurance Company until she retired after 40 years of service. Her hobbies included going to the movies and attending water aerobics at the athletic club where she met many of her “pool lady friends”. She loved reading and was a devoted and avid fan of Elvis Presley. She also enjoyed going out to lunch with her niece Carrie. She easily made friends anywhere but was especially close to Maxine Gilbreath and Kathy Johnson from her childhood, as well as New York Life friend Lucille Meyers. She cherished the relationship she had with her brother Todd Christianson and his wife Belinda of Selah, and nieces Kristi and Andrea.
Carole loved being a mother, Tricia brought so much joy to her life. She was a master of single parenting and modeled strength, independence, generosity, and love on a daily basis. It wasn’t easy, but Carole provided Tricia with all she could including sports, trips and various extracurricular opportunities.
Carole is survived by her beloved daughter Tricia Sagare of Oakland, CA, her brother Todd and family, nieces Carrie (Ron) Anderson of Terrace Heights, and Lisa Krout (Rob) of Florida, nephews Scott (Leslie) Geer of Yakima, Brian (Jackie) Gibson of Yakima, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews beyond Yakima. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Janice Snelson (d. 1988) and Patricia Geer (d. 1970).
Carole remained connected to the Sagare family and especially her mother-in-law Eve Sagare. Surviving family include Tony (Joyce) Sagare of Yakima, Dave (Linda) Sagare of Austin, TX, and Sylvia (Gene) Gibson of Richland.
Carole was an animal lover, and especially loved cats.
