I'm so very sorry to learn of the loss of our dear cousin and friend. I remember him for his sunny personality and kind soul. Deepest sympathy to Julie, Judy, and our family.

Laurence and I were stunned to learn that Dick had passed away. He was a great man and we will miss knowing that he is in Columbus, doing humanitarian work. 
Dick and I shared a lot of our lives, and he had a large impact on the course of my life. We were graduate students together, briefly, at SUNY/Buffalo. My first term there, in 1967, was Dick's last. I remember him putting his thesis together in the division's office. Later, I came to have the same major professor, Dr. Gary Levy, and my dissertation project was a continuation of research that Dick had done for his dissertation. About 20 years later, we had a chance breakfast together at a scientific meeting, where he convinced me to apply for a position at Ohio State, where I spent 20 years as his colleague. We became good friends and often went to the gym at noon. We are much saddened by your loss; know that you are in our thoughts.

Dear Judy and family ,
Irma and I were saddened to learn of Dick’s passing.
We met in Buffalo in 1964 when Lew joined SUNY as a graduate student,with a desk next to Dick’s and became friends,enjoying dinners and fun times together.
We enjoyed  visits at OSU  and our son Jeff and granddaughter are Buckeyes.
Our Grandaughter is now a freshman at OSU .

Dear Judy and Family,

Bonnie joins me in sending our sincere condolences to all of you at this time. 

Dick and I started our long careers at Ohio State in 1970 in the Division of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the College of Pharmacy. He was a great colleague, friend and research collaborator. His outstanding person skills and organizational abilities showed up early in a major project on narcotic antagonists which involved most of the division faculty and several others in the college. He carefully led and shepherded the project over many successful years as demonstrated by funding renewals and multiple published papers and national meeting presentations. 

He was a good man and a rare individual who truly deserves the revered accolade of a “mensch”, a person of integrity and honor in Yiddish, a folk language of Eastern Europe. He will be greatly missed. May his memory be a blessing.

   Dick became my friend and more senior graduate student mentor when we were graduate students together in the laboratory of Gerhard Levy (he was Gary's first PhD graduate) at the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy.  He taught me how to perform anesthesia and surgery on rats for studies of drug absorption. He was most gracious and helpful to all and I expect that these, along with his keen scientific knowledge and wit, were his attributes as a long-time faculty member at OSU.   Our discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences evolved to a very high level owing to the research and teaching contributions of Dick Reuning over the past 50+ years.

Dear Judy and Family,

I am deeply sorry for your loss and wanted to echo the heartfelt and eloquent remembrances shared already by alumni, faculty and staff of the Ohio State College of Pharmacy Family.  As time went on in my 15 years employed at the College, Dr. Reuning taught me the importance of listening skills and being compassionate — two traits that he excelled. He was mostly serious and professorial but when something hit him the right way he had the most joyous laughter. I know he loved his family deeply and was a devoted follower of Christ.  May he now rest in Eternal Light. “RIP Dick Reuning”

Howie...as you know Bruno and I grew up together in the West State Street neighborhood...

In the early years we with Eddie Gallman hung out together all during childhood. Bruno was our leader. He introduced us to basketball, chess, classical music, building tree forts, pretending to be Tarzan swinging from tree to tree,  hikes over the hill to the remote girl scout cabin... we played so much baseball, basketball, and football together(knock knock.."Can Bruno come out to play?"). We played 3 years of Little League on the Exchange with George LaChance. He formed our neighborhood football team that regularly played Erkie's team in tackle football. 


Senior year at WHS at the all night senior party he and a joyful Judy Brandis suddenly realized they had something special..eventually they married..he graduated from U. of Buffalo with a Doctorate in Pharmacology..spent his career at Ohio State where he was co-head of that Department..They had 2 children...a girl who's a head church minister in New England and a boy who's a computer whiz in Columbus. 


Also, to me anyway, he was a a virtuoso on the violin. I visited them in Columbus years ago. He played a solo for me that left me astonished..He played on a violin made by his nephew(older brother Sandy's boy a famous violin maker out Boston)..Bruno said he bought it at a "bargain " price..$35,000!!!!


I just have endless good memories of Bruno...very religious...always took the high road, and was always self effacing and humble..

A truly truly GOOD MAN..

I'll and we will miss him and his simple quiet exemplary ways...my deepest condolences to Judy and his family..

Dick was a grad student in Gerhard Levy's lab at U.B. when I was an undergrad. 
Dick ushered me into my first hospital pharmacy job (as an intern) at Our Lady of Victory Hospital when he left that job to be in Dr. Levy's lab.
Elaine and I were so happy when he came to O.S.U.!
A prince of a man..
I will miss him greatly.





Dick was a life long friend. We (Al an I) grew up together in the orchestra at Wellsville, NY.  After college, We had also moved to Buffalo.  Dick and Judy invited us to join the choir at First Trinity LC in Tonawanda, NY. They were in grad school at UB.  We became close friends. 
It's difficult to think of Dick not being here on earth! He was so close to our Lord! A wonderful witness to everyone.  He must be reveling in the joy of heaven!
