Jennifer L. Spegal, passed away peacefully on November 27, in the midst of her valiant battle with cancer. Jenny lived a selfless life of service to her family, profession and community. Her love for God and others was rare and evident in the way she led her life.
Jenny was born September 28th 1958, in Miamisburg, Ohio. Jenny loved her life and lived it to the fullest every day. She was a devoted Christian who practiced her faith and studied the Bible daily. She was a rock to her family, friends and colleagues. Jenny showed her love through kindness and humbleness. Her laugh was infectious, with a sense of humor to match. Jenny was a model of the Fruits of the Spirit; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Strength and Perseverance. Jenny had beautiful red hair, though disliked by her, it left a lasting impression on all, especially her husband. Jenny found joy in exploring new places, scuba diving, driving fast cars, cherishing moments with family, relishing classic musicals, enjoying thunderstorms and snowfall while curling up with a good book. Much to her chagrin, she was adored by three kitties who loved snuggling in her lap. During her battle with skin cancer, she always fought courageously, without complaint. She was loved by all who met her.
Her professional life was nothing short of prolific, fitting for one who worked with as much drive and passion as Jenny. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology & Chemistry and Masters of Education, Jenny went on to have a successful career at Sinclair Community College for over 30 years, five of which she served as the Assistant Dean. After years of service as a board member, including a two year term as chair, for the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB), Jenny was appointed as MAERB’s commissioner to the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). She was then elected to the CAAHEP Board and served as Vice-President and Secretary. As a volunteer, Jenny shared her experience, knowledge, and dedication to ensuring that allied health programs maintained high standards for future practitioners in the field.
