Elizabeth D. Ryan

Elizabeth Dolores Ryan, 95, born on May 21, 1927, to Mercedes Brenner Kiefer and Louis Kiefer, died peacefully on Sunday April 23. She was a beautiful woman with a strong will and a ready sense of humor. She graduated from St Mary’s High School in Columbus, Ohio and worked in accounting at Shoe Corporation of America before marrying Donald Ryan in 1948 and having 4 Children.

Until the onset of Macular degeneration took her sight, she enjoyed creating art in stitchery, sewing beautiful clothes, planting a colorful flower garden, cooking much loved meals, and traveling, especially to coastal areas where she could eat fresh seafood.

But above all she loved her family and time spent with them. Holidays were always a favorite time for everyone to gather together.

She is predeceased by her husband Donald Ryan, her son Daniel Ryan, her brother Donald Kiefer and his wife Susan, and baby sister Mary Lou Kiefer.

She is survived by daughter Carolyn (Peter) Hendey, Son Thomas (Jacqueline) Ryan, and daughter Cynthia (Steve) Mygrant, half-sister Geraldine (Paul) Schlegel, Daughter-in-law Jodell Ryan, and grandchildren Timothy Hendey, Matthew Hendey, Leah Stefanski, Dustin Ryan, Michael Mygrant, John Mygrant, Elizabeth Buttermore, and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Schoedinger’s Worthington on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Church on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10am with burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Macular Degeneration Research. Special thanks to the wonderful people at Gentiva Hospice.
