Our loving Father, William Wallace, went home to be with the Lord on September 27th, 2023. He had suffered a massive stroke and was home on hospice care-where his children and grandchildren were all able to visit and say their goodbyes.
William, also known as Billy, was born in Laurens SC on March 2nd, 1941 to William and Sarah Wallace. He is survived by his sister, Jane Parsons, whom he would often talk about their time on the farm as children and how wonderful of a childhood they had. Dad’s time on a farm was where he found his love of agriculture and because of that became very active in the FFA. After highschool, William attended the University of Clemson, where he played football and became a loyal fan for life. Fast forward to us being in the picture and all season long Dad would be sitting on his comfy chair cheering the team on or taking my brother and Mom and myself to a game. Those were especially fond memories for his son, my brother-Kevin Wallace.
After College Dad went on to join the military and was stationed at Beale Air Force Base where he met our Mother, and love of his life, Ann Wallace- on Christmas Day while out on leave. They fell in love instantly and married two months later and had been together for 59 years until Mom passed away four months prior to Dad. Dad completed his service in the military just as he was being called into ministry. He was ordained as a pastor and lead a sweet church in Pixley California.
After California, Dad was longing for being at home on the farm-so all us moved back to South Carolina. Dad decided to pursue a teaching degree and taught middle school at the very school in which he graduated many years prior-Ford Elementary. Dad went on to get his Masters and Phd from Clemson University and shortly after he became Director of Adult Education for Laurens School District. Several years later we moved as a family to Florida and then moved again to Georgia. Dad and Mom were following the grand kids. They became very active in their church and Sunday School Class at Woodstock First Baptist along with us children-it was a lovely time for us all to be together and serving.
Dad left behind his sister and husband Jane and Jimmy Parsons, brother in law Gary Reedy and wife Rachelle, his children and their spouses, Kevin Wallace and wife Paulyne Wallace, Mary Oldenkamp and husband Jacco Oldenkamp, niece and nephew Kris Reedy and Jason Reedy, and His grandchildren Kylah Wallace, Benjamin Morris, Zachary Morris, Cade Wallace, and Caleb Oldenkamp.
His graveside service will take place on October 20th, 2023, at 11:00am at Ora ARP church at 23420 US-221, Gray Court, SC, 29645. As far as attire, Dad loved Clemson, so anything orange or purple would be wonderful, but please feel free to dress as you wish. Flowers will be accepted and are to be sent to Kennedy Mortuary at 606 W Main St, Laurens, SC 29360. Should you want to give towards something in lieu of flowers, please consider purchasing Bibles in her name from Gideons International by clicking here:
