Wayne Clayton

Mr. Clarence Wayne Clayton, 87, of Rome, GA passed away August 8, 2014. Wayne was born on August 24, 1926 in Holly Springs, GA to the late Clarence and Ollie Clayton. After his graduation from high school, Wayne served honorably in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. When he came home, he attended Georgia State University where he received his bachelor’s degree. Wayne pastored Cross Roads Primitive Baptist Church for 22 years. He also retired from Suntrust Bank as Vice President in Trusts. Wayne was devoted to God and his family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Fields Clayton and daughter, Loraine Brooks. Wayne leaves behind his wife, Wynelle Clayton, son, Brian Clayton (Sara), daughter, Cathy Pennell (John), grandchildren, Erich Brooks, Brandon Brooks, Chris Pennell and Nikolas Pennell, brother, Don Clayton, step-children, Terry Haygood (Penny), Stephen Haygood and Laura Shear (Myron), step-grandchildren, Jason, Ritchie and Andrew Haygood (Melissa) , and step-greatgrandchildren, Wyatt and Ryan Haygood. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home, 8555 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188. Interment will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery, Marietta, GA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
