Vern Carl Karnstedt, son of Carl H. Karnstedt and Eleanor M. (Brommelhorst) Poggemoeller, attended Lutheran High School in Saint Louis and obtained a Master of Science in Forest Physiology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He had three children, Laena, Curt, and Paul, with his former wife Betty, and two grandchildren, Veronica and Oliva, daughters of Laena and son-in-law Michael Watts. He is survived by Curt, Paul, Veronica, Olivia, Michael, and Betty.
In his career, he designed food processing methods, wrote documentation for pharmaceuticals, facilitated government compliance, lobbied the government for pharmaceutical companies, and consulted for the Red Cross and other clients. He frequently donated blood as a Hero donor. A former Atlanta Ballroom committee board member, he was involved in local dance for decades, from Fred Astaire dancing to Atlanta Dance studios. He loved God, family, friends, and fellow congregation members at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Friends and former colleagues are welcome to attend the funeral service. A public viewing will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on July 27 at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188, with a memorial service at 2 p.m.
