Stanley D Johnston

Stanley Davis Johnston, age 64, of Woodstock, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023. Stanley (Stan) was born December 6, 1958 to Smith L. and Elizabeth Davis Johnston. Stan graduated from Cherokee High School in 1976 and attended Georgia Southern University and the University of Georgia. Stan spent most of his career in law enforcement and fire department in Cherokee County. Stan was a member of Canton First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Smith and Elizabeth Johnston.

Stan is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beth Bagwell Johnston of Woodstock, daughter Hannah Johnston Taylor, son-in-law Wesley Taylor, and grandson Henry Taylor of Brunswick, GA; brothers John Moore of Atlanta and Smith Johnston of Woodstock; sisters Lucy (Joe) Blackwell of Woodstock and Janice (Vic) Kane of Woodstock. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Stan loved the Georgia Bulldogs, Mustangs, horses, and particularly Saint Simons Island, Georgia which he lovingly called “my island.” His greatest joy was being a dad to Hannah and Pops to his grandson Henry.

The family will be receiving friends at Woodstock Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at Thursday, May 11, 2023 11:00 a.m. at Woodstock Funeral Home.
