Ruth Mitchell Sullivan Morton passed away on April 28th, 2018 at the age of 89 at her home in Woodstock, Ga. Ruth was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1928 to Ethel and Paul Mitchell. She was the youngest of 4 siblings, Paul, Marvin and Elsie who all predeceased her. She attended Howe High School in Indianapolis. Ruth married her first husband, Robert E. Sullivan, Jr. in 1946 and when he passed in 1975, she married her current husband Charles “Fred” Morton in 1978.
Ruth worked throughout her life doing administrative work for hospitals and engineers. When she moved to Marietta in 1985, she went to work for Cobb County D.O.T. from which she retired at the age of 72.
Ruth enjoyed lots of good times with both of her spouses. “Bob” and she loved singing and they both were involved with the “Barbershoppers”. She and Fred traveled on cruises as much as they could. They saw a lot of the world and were truly blessed to have been able to do that.
Ruth is survived by her husband Fred; daughters, Cheryl Sullivan Haines (Dale) of Vero Beach Fl. and Jacquelin Sullivan Perry (Bo)of Tampa, Fl.; and son, Robert E. Sullivan III (Vicky) of Birmingham, Al. She is also survived by 3 stepchildren, Fred, Cindy, and Becky. She was predeceased by her step daughter Vicky.
She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She used to say when looking over them all…”look what I started!”
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 from 5:0 0p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Woodstock Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 2nd 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Cherokee Humane Society in her name. She loved her Puppies!
Arrangements are under the direction of Woodstock Funeral Home.
