He is survived by his wife Youlanda, son Stacey, and daughter Sallie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anna Ficzko, and sisters Marlene and Lois.
Ron grew up in Irvington, New Jersey and attended Irvington High School. He was the most recruited football player from New Jersey at that time. He graduated with a BBA in Economics from The University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida and attended law school at the University of New Mexico. Ron moved to Atlanta, Georgia, met, and married the love of his life, Youlanda. He valued military service highly, enlisted in the U.S. Army, and attained the rank of Sergeant E-5 while serving as part of the U.S. Army Rangers in Vietnam. Ron was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star with Valor, and the National Defense Service Medal for his sacrifice and courage. After his service in Vietnam, Ron returned home to his wife, son, and daughter. Working in real estate for most of his career gave Ron the satisfaction of helping people establish their businesses.
His loved ones remember his enthusiasm for playing and watching football. Every fall it was all about the “U” and Game Day. He quietly gave to those in need. His wise and encouraging words brought out the best in those who knew him.
