Patricia Anne Johnston Ray, age 82, of Monroe, passed away on February 7, 2017. She was born on January 5, 1935 in Marietta, Georgia. Her parents were the late Hugh L. Johnston and the late Sara Lee Carnes Johnston. She is preceded in death by her siblings Hugh Lee Johnston, Jr., Jane Avis Johnston Pierce, Robert Luther Johnston and Joe Carnes Johnston. She is survived by her brother, Lynn Henry Johnston of Atlanta, Georgia, her sister, Sara “Sally” Johnston Stach of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Canton High School, Pat received an Associates Degree from West Georgia College. Serving as an executive secretary for Western Electric, a division of AT&T, Pat performed her job with great diligence and perfection. Her hobbies included dancing and going to car races. After retirement she enjoyed watching NASCAR races and collecting race car memorabilia. Most enjoyable were visits from friends and family, but especially from children. She always made an effort to make all of them feel important, which was evidenced by the gallery of pictures on her walls.
The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Dr. Royeese Stowe, will be Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Woodstock Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with interment immediately following at Enon Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers are Ron Johnston, Steve Jones, Thomas Johnston, Steve Marsh, Brandon Attaway, SPC Graham Hutcheson, and Stanley Johnston. Honorary Pall Bearer will be Richard “Dick” Johnston. The family is grateful to Cindy DuBois, a faithful friend, for the love and care given to Pat for the last 5 years.
