Maria "Lola" Dolores Romero

Lola was born to the late Rogelio Garced and Justiniana Colon Garced on May 1, 1928 in Cidra, Puerto Rico. She was one of thirteen children. She later met and married the love of her life, Pedro Antonio Romero. The two were later blessed with seven children. The family traveled the world with Pedro in his career with the U.S. Army.

Lola was known as "Mama" to her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a Godly woman, held close to her convictions and was a long time member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Paterson, New Jersey.

Lola is preceded in death by her parents, Rogelio and Justiniana Garced, and her son, Jose "Joey" E. Romero. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Pedro Romero, William Romero, Jose R. Romero, Gerardo "Jerry" Romero, Maria K. Romero and Jodie Ulloa; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 19, 2022 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm at Martinez Funeral Home 747 Market Street Paterson, New Jersey 07513. A mass will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 8:30am at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church 399 Market Street Paterson, New Jersey 07501. Lola will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery 58 McLean Blvd, Paterson, NJ 07513.
