Juan R. Garcia, 82, of Marietta quietly passed from this life on Friday, January 12, 2024. Mr. Garcia was born in Mayari, Oriente Province in Cuba on August 30, 1941 to the late Juan Garcia Menendez and Serafina Garcia Almira.

Mr. Garcia was educated by Jesuit priests until he left Cuba in 1956, he graduated high school from The Pennington School in New Jersey in 1958, then attended Seton Hall University before receiving an engineering degree from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana. He started his career with Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, Indiana during the construction of what was then the largest steel mill in the world. Mr. Garcia returned to the US with his family in 1987 and resided in Marietta until his death.
He owned and operated a number of businesses in his life. Almost all were manufacturing companies with roots in the steel and automotive industries. His last venture, DIXIEN was an automotive supplier of metal and plastic parts. He retired on July 1, 2023 after 27 years as owner and chief executive officer of the company. He touched many lives in his career, leaving behind deep connections with those who had the opportunity to work with him, not just members of his own team but also customers and suppliers.
Mr. Garcia was a lifelong golfer, who didn’t just enjoy playing but loved every aspect of the game. He attended The Masters in Augusta every spring for 25 years and loved every minute he spent there. Golf for him was analogous to life, he played the game like he lived his life. Those who knew him, will remember him as a fighter who never complained or gave up, and always found a way in golf, business and life.
In 2018 he finished runner-up in the Indian Hills CC MGA Championship, playing 36 holes per day at the age of 77.
