He passed away peacefully in his home on his birthday, Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the age of 89. John touched many lives and was loved by all who met him. He was a man of great character and strength. He was faithful, humble, and compassionate with a big heart and playful sense of humor. John’s smile and laugh were infectious. He spread laughter and joy to his loved ones and to strangers everywhere he went. Although he has passed on, John’s legacy and his heart live on with his family and the many lives he has touched through his journey on this earth.
John was born in 1935 and was the son of Elmer and Edith O’Bryant. He served in the US Army on active duty in Anchorage, Alaska from January 5th, 1956 to October 11th, 1957. He remained in the U.S. Army Standby Reserve until January 15th, 1962 following an honorable discharge for his service.
John is survived by his loving wife, Peggy O’Bryant. John and Peggy have shared more than 66 beautiful years together since their marriage on December 28th, 1957.
John is also survived by one brother, Lloyd O’Bryant of Canton, Georgia, two sisters, Thena Mae Satterfield of Cumming, Georgia, and Dorothy (Dot) Clark of Clairmont, Georgia.
John is lovingly remembered by his two children, Timothy O’Bryant of (Marietta, Georgia) and Anthony O’Bryant of (Woodstock, Georgia), grandchildren Amanda O’Bryant, Tamara O’Bryant, Kelly O’Bryant, Alisha Spain, Michael O’Bryant, and Melissa O’Bryant, and great-grandchildren Kaylie O’Bryant, Samantha O’Keefe, and Athena Kindsfater. All of John's grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever cherish the joy and light that he brought to their lives.
John will be buried at the Georgia National Cemetery on July 30, 2024, with military honors in recognition of his service.
