Born October 13,1935, in Atlanta Georgia, he was the son of the late James Attaway Kennedy Sr. and Edith Edwards Kennedy.
Jim graduated from Georgia Military Academy High School and went on to graduate from Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering. On July 4th, 70 years ago, he went on his first date with the former Louise Carter. They married 2 years later and were married 68 years. He worked in engineering sales for his whole career. His career took him to Birmingham, Alabama, Huntsville, Alabama, and Miami, Florida.
After he retired, Jim and Louise moved to Woodstock GA where they lived for the next 24 years. Jim and Louise traveled all over the world over the last 35 years visiting 45 different countries, including spending a month in China and a month between Australia and New Zealand. Jim was an avid golfer, scuba diver, photographer, bridge player and a devoted member of Alpharetta Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Louise Carter Kennedy of Woodstock, GA, he is survived by his brother, Robert C. Kennedy of Acworth, GA, cousin Alan Edwards (Barbara), nephew, Alan Kennedy (Allison); 2 children, Diane Kennedy (Alex Reddick) of Woodstock, GA and David Kennedy (Kathy) of Emigrant, Montana; grandchildren, Amanda Kennedy Zolan (Alex), Christopher Hudson Kennedy (Christina) and Ryan Austen Kennedy (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Jackson Kennedy Zolan, Charlie Nouvel Kennedy, Rosemary Hudson Zolan, Theodore Marie Kennedy, Lorelei Steinway Zolan, Campbell Lee Kennedy and William Hayes Kennedy other relatives and friends.
Funeral services and interment will be graveside at College Park Cemetery, 3600 North Adams, College Park, GA 30337 at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024 with Dr. Oliver (“Ollie”) Wagner, Senior Pastor, Alpharetta Presbyterian Church officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are David Kennedy, Alan Kennedy, Lawrence Tedesco, Jr., Scott Turner, Christopher Kennedy and Ryan Kennedy.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donationses be made to Alpharetta Presbyterian Church.
