Greg and I were in homeroom throughout junior high and senior high school.  He was a shining star and a great person.  He was always filled with love and laughter.  I hadn't seen Greg since a little after high school .   I am so very sorry for the loss of this wonderful person. To Greg’s Mom, and Brother, and Family,

I met Greg at System 7 back in the ‘80s and followed him to Joseph’s, which then became Richie Arpino’s. He was always kind to me and regaled me with stories about his family. I felt I knew you in so many ways. I really wanted to be at Greg’s service today, but my first grandson was born last night & I will not be able to attend.

I am thinking of you as you celebrate his life. I send my deepest condolences. Greg will be missed, but his legacy, faithfulness and love will endure.

I am so sad to lose someone that I admired so much.  I met Greg back when he was working at System Seven -- 37 years ago -- and never went anywhere else for my hair.  He always did a great job but more than that, I enjoyed talking to him so much.  As the others have said, he knew the words to every song.  He introduced me to Garth Brooks before he was well known.  The Last Dance was one of Greg's favorite songs.  I never understood how he could stand all day in the pain that we all knew he was enduring--never complaining.

I’m so sorry for the loss of Greg.  Having spent many hours with him over the last 20 yrs he was not only a wonderful stylist, but also my friend. He will be  missed by so many.

I have been a client of Richie Arpino’s for years and Greg has been my colorist.  He was terrific at his job.  Greg was also a lot of fun.  He knew not only the name of the performer (as well as all gossip about that performer) but the lyrics to any song on the radio.  And he would sing all those lyrics to anyone within earshot and sing well, given his training in his younger days.  
Greg  just knew a lot of stuff about everything.  If I was stumped on my crossword puzzle, Greg would usually know the answer.  He was quick-witted and had a great sense of humor.  
More than all that, I admired Greg.  He had suffered from health problems for years and endured a lot of back pain and declining-mobility issues.  Imagine how hard it must have been for him to stand all day on a hard floor to do his job.  Yet, Greg never complained.  Instead, he showed up at work every day, without complaint.  He just kept going.  Greg was dealt a lousy hand when it came to his health, but he played that hand with grace, dignity, and courage.   He will be missed.  
My deepest sympathy to his mother and brother, both of whom we heard about through the years.

Greg was a remarkable and talented creative. He had great ideas and had a fun and mischievous sense if humor.  He knew every word to every song and could make me smile on the saddest of days.  He was the orchid master and I marveled at his green thumb!  When I got breast cancer, I had been a client of Greg’s for only 3 years.  I didn’t see him during my chemotherapy when my hair fell out, but when I started going back when the fuzz came back in, the sense of normalcy he provided in being there through the various stages was special.  While our conversations would start out with hair, they would always evolve about life, family and  friends.  And for over 20 years, I consider it a blessing to have had Greg be a part of my life.   May the memories carried by loved ones carry you through this difficult time.  And may his memory be eternal.  In sympathy and prayer, Sophia Karteris Kelley

I worked with Greg for 30+ years.  He was so talented and funny while he worked and entertained us. Thanksgiving was a favorite time for Greg, he loved his mother’s fruit cake.  I hope all the wonderful memories of Greg will bring smiles at his life’s celebration. My most sincere sympathy to Greg’s mother Emily, David and Julia, as well as his extended family.

Greg....too many fun times to post. We grew up on the same street, and had fun hanging out together.  I remember summer days lounging on my back deck together, and also the times your mom hired me to babysit you so you and David would not argue!! My heart is broken hearing about Greg’s passing. He was my best friend for many many years when I lived in Atlanta. So many fun times and wonderful memories. My condolences to his Mother and the rest of the family.  May he Rest In Peace. I love you Greg!  ❤️
