Thomas Daniel Losness

Tom was a loving husband, brother, uncle, godfather, colleague and true friend to many. He passed away surrounded by family and close friends on July 27, 2024 at the age of 57. Tom was born in Hastings, Minn., on October 5, 1966, the youngest of seven children. After graduating from Park High School in Cottage Grove, he pursued a computer software degree and graduated from Hamline University. Tom met and fell in love with Mary (who coincidentally he shared a birthday with) in 1995 and they wed on May 10, 1997. He spent his entire career working as a software engineer and worked in aerospace engineering for the last 25 years.

He and Mary, his wife of 27 years, enjoyed traveling, long walks with their rescued golden retrievers from over the years (Maggie, Charlie, Guster, Louie and Rosa) and helping each other through life’s trials. From the beginning, Tom and Mary were a team. Before they married, Tom wrote this to Mary: “I want to spend the rest of our lives together, we can deal with any problems that may arise” (and they did)!

Tom was an adventurer who enjoyed camping trips to the Boundary Waters and other Minnesota parks with his dear friends from college. He was an avid reader, a comic book collector, enjoyed woodworking, and was always up for getting together with neighborhood friends for a beer.

Tom quietly battled Multiple Myeloma and prostate cancer for several years. He kept these challenges to himself most of the time, preferring to focus on living his best life.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Sandra Losness and his nephew Michael. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; siblings Jon (Susan) Losness, Rochester, Minn.; Julie (Kevin) Prax, Shakopee, Minn.; Ann (Jim) Hogan, Plymouth, Iowa; Paula (Dan) McDonald, Hudson, Wis.; Peter Losness, Maplewood, Minn.; Katie (Evan) Larson, Austin, Minn.; sister-in-law Colleen Musolf, brother-in-law Charles Schroeder and sister-in-law Karen (Mike) Stave.

Also surviving are aunts Bonita Morse and Judy Tyler, nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, six godchildren and two beloved goldens, Louie and Rosa.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr, Woodbury, Minnesota 55125, followed by a prayer service at 6:00 PM.

Memorials are preferred to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) and Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest (RAGOM).
