I did not know Steve personally, but I was one of those who admired his pictures on Nextdoor, his eye for the beauty around us, and his sense of humor. He will be missed!

Steve and Rona were the best neighbors! Steve took the time to help his neighbors, even though he was always busy working on his various projects. He was funny, friendly, talented and it was interesting (in a good way) to listen to his stories. We loved looking at his pictures, some of which he took in our back yards. Although we moved away, we have two of his leaf castings that will remind us of him. Rona, our hearts go out to you on the loss of Steve.

I didn't know Steven personally but I am one of the MANY people whose lives he changed for the better via the NextDoor app. His photographic and prose skills were unmatched and always a day brightener to those of use who followed and looked forward to his posts. Based on his NextDoor posts it was clear that he was a kind and giving person with a witty sense of humor. Condolences to his family; he will be missed by more people than you'll ever realize!  Steven, R.I.P.  my good man. You were an asset to our community.

I’m so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. I’ve never met him, but I enjoyed the pictures he would post on the Nextdoor app. He always shared his beautiful photos and his eloquent captions. He was very talented. I will miss seeing these. My condolences to his family. RIP.

I’m stunned and devastated to learn of Steve’s passing. We never met, yet he brought me immeasurable joy and delight from his photography and story telling. He took beautiful photographs and his use of his camera and lenses was magical. He knew how to use camera settings better than I have ever managed. I burst into tears when I realized there would be no more photographs or stories from him. I feel a deep sense of loss for someone I was never fortunate enough to meet.  My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and his admirers.

I never met Steve, but so enjoyed the beautiful nature photos he shared. He always saw the beauty around him and I loved that he shared with so many. Rest in peace-I think of you when I see our nature friends.

I did not know Steven in person. I wish I had known him. My memories of him will be of the beautiful pictures he shared with all of us "in the neighborhood." His pictures were full of wonder, peace, and beauty. His pictures spoke volumes about him and the world he shared with all of us. God bless Steven and all of his family. I can only imagine the beautiful pictures he is taking now in God's heavenly home!

I am so sad to read of Steve’s passing. I did not know him but greatly enjoyed his wildlife photos on NextDoor as well as  his reflections and writings. Sending condolences & deep sympathy to his Loved ones. Another great light has left us. I will greatly miss his posts.  He leaves behind an amazing legacy in his photos and written words and most importantly, his family of creation, both biological and through marriage. Thank you Steve!

I, like many who are leaving notes, never met Steve, but so enjoyed his photos and comments on nature that he posted on Nextdoor.  It was easy to see what a kind, gentle soul Steve had.  He had a wonderful eye and heart for enjoying nature.  Thank you Steve for sharing your love of nature with your community.  You will be missed.

Steven had much mire than a knack for photography or nature. He shared so much of the skills he developed for it with everyone. 
Delicate close-ups to backyard intimacy were simply conveyed across this social media platform with a trained artist's techniques. 
May his family know how valued this was to everyone who received joy and subsequently shared it with their family members. 
Our  beloved pet/family member left 7/19. We are just letting ourselves free of that lovely experience through memories. 

May you find wonderful times with memorabilia and remain still close!

So sorry for your loss.  I only met him once, but his posts to Next Door brightened my days.  A blessing on you all.

I’m shocked and so saddened. He came to my house last fall and made some concrete casts of elephant leaves I had. I couldn’t attend his class so he came to me. Then he and his wife picked up pavers we had to use on a project. It was fun talking with him, and I loved his photos and journaling about the flora and fauna. My condolences to the family.

Steve was a great colleague, friend and fellow community gardener, working beside me in the St. Joes Community Garden in Chippewa Falls, donating 100% of our harvest to locale food pantries and kitchens, creating a legacy that earned state and national awards and giving Steve the opportunity to experiment with alternative vegetable production techniques.   We missed his share of the harvest when he and Rona moved to Woodbury, but we'll never forget the great experiences we lived together.  Rest in Peace my friend...no one deserves it more.

I, too, only knew Steve through Nextdoor. His delightful posts and pictures would always brighten my day and will be sorely missed! May his memory be a blessing.

Steve was very up beat and kind who was always willing to help out. It was a pleasure having Steve on the Woodbury Lunds and Byerlys team.

I never met Steven, but loved reading his posts and seeing his beautiful photos. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family.

Steve's presence will be missed. I always looked forward to his photos to see what his wildlife friends were up to. With his narration, with his own sese of humor, he lifted my spirits many times. Though we never met, I will miss him.

I have only met Steve through his photography which I have enjoyed immensely.  He shared the beautiful joy he found in our local environment showing us what can be observed if we look beyond ourselves.   Forever grateful.

I only knew of Steve through Next Door.  So sorry to hear of his passing.  His beautiful photos and his great sense of humour were a wonderful respite from all the reports of crimes and political arguing that goes on there. In deepest sympathy for all the family and close friends. I only knew Stevens through next-door neighbor, and the first time I saw a few of his photos they took my breath away. I felt I actually went to heaven. They were gorgeous. He definitely shared a lot of love through his photos, and I’m sure everywhere else. I think this is the gentleman who always posted wonderful pictures of Mother Nature on Nextdoor. These pictures always brought a smile to my face and brought out such positive responses from his “followers“. What a beautiful man to share his gifts for us to enjoy. RIP, may GOD bless you!

Please, please when you are able, consider having a book printed of his beautiful photos and delightful writings. I'm sure many local publishing companies would help.  His joy in life and nature is simply a Blessing to all.

I will miss seeing Steve’s unique photos and twist of nature’s faces. It was my pleasure to know him as a boss and also my friend. My heartfelt condolences to Rona and also the family he loved and doted on.

Rona and family,
I’m so sad to hear of Steve’s passing. What an awesome man he was. We had some great photography talks when I’d see him at Alexandria Covenant. He was truly like a mentor to me. More recently, I  followed him and his captures on Facebook and admired his incredible talent. Not sure why, but God does seem to take the great ones too soon. Praying for comfort and peace for you. He will be missed by all of us that enjoyed his wonderful photography. His commentary with them added to the enjoyment. He shared his love of nature with us all and we were blessed to enjoy it. He left a legacy of love and light from his heart to ours.

I did not know Steve, but these past few years I have truly enjoyed all the pictures he posted on Next door.  Thank you for shaing your talent of photography.

I never knew Steve. But I believe he blessed the community with his photographs and narratives of life. He shared that sense of awe at the natural beauty we see every day . He made posts that were worth viewing and reading. He uplifted our spirits . A lesson to be learned.
