She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her husband of 50 years, Don; sisters-in-law: Delores Perras, Judy Perras (Craig Lenz), Patricia Morrison (Leech) and Lanna Leech; brother-in-law Robert Leech; nephews: Galen Perras (Nicole St-Onge), Gregg Perras (Kam Laraway), Terry Perras (Jori) and Todd Perras (Sheila); nieces Lynn Perras-Selensky (John Selensky) and Jody Harasymchuk (Kevin); her nieces and nephews throughout the Leech family; all her extended family and friends in and around Montmartre, Glenavon, Windthorst, Regina and all her lifelong friends from Avon Medical Centre and The Cottage Restaurant in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Leah was predeceased by her parents Hector and Rachel Perras; brothers: Roland Perras, Roger Perras and Leo Perras; sister-in-law Mary Dureault (Pulai-Perras) and brother-in-law Glen Leech.
Leah was the fourth child and only girl born to Hector and Rachel (Dubois) Perras on April 25th, 1948 in Montmartre, Saskatchewan. Leah came into this life a fighter. She was born premature at approximately one pound in a health centre that didn’t have the equipment to sustain her life. While the doctor attended to Rachel, Rachel’s sister was called by the nurse attending Leah’s delivery who told her to get Leah as quickly as possible to the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan. Leah was wrapped in cotton, put into a shoe box and Rachel’s sister boarded the train to Regina with Leah. The Grey Nuns Hospital was able to save Leah's life. They were very proud, even publishing an article, of their accomplishment that was displayed in the library at the Pasqua Hospital up until recently.
Leah made her family very proud with all her accomplishments throughout school but especially when she became a nurse. Leah went on to work at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan as well as the hospital in Montmartre. Leah was always where she knew she needed to be. She took a break from nursing when she joined Peter’s Service as a bookkeeper but then returned to healthcare when she became a Medical Office Assistant for Dr. Powell-Jones and then Dr. Matt Casey at the Avon Medical Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan. Leah had an incredible knack for understanding the vast world of pharmaceuticals and was often consulted by her nieces and others in the healthcare field for recommendations.
Leah never officially became a mother, however, she embraced her two nieces, Lynn and Jody, as her own. Leah was very close to her nieces and they shared a special bond. They were often seen together enjoying lunches and dinners at The Cottage Restaurant in Regina, on the phone, going for coffees, celebrating holidays and birthdays together, driving to appointments in the city, watching her favorite television shows, texting, and, most recently, taking a girls trip to Saskatoon to attend a Carrie Underwood concert. Most importantly, Leah always had time for Lynn and Jody and Lynn and Jody always had time for Leah.
Leah will always be fondly remembered for her undying loyalty and love she had for all her family and friends, as well as her love for all animals, music, concerts, movies and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Leah will also always be remembered for her love for American actor and filmmaker Vincent D'Onofrio and especially, for her love for Grammy Award winning English singer-songwriter, Adele. While Leah was never able to get her hands on tickets to an Adele concert in Vegas, her love for Adele will carry on for eternity.
Leah's memorial service will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary RC Church at 123 2nd St. West, Glenavon, Saskatchewan on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Francis (Prince) Kurisinkal. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery in Montmartre, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regina Humane Society, 79 Armour Road, RM of Sherwood, SK S4K 0A8, or the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery Fund, Box 270, Montmartre, SK S0G 3M0.
However far away
I will always love you
However long I stay
I will always love you
Whatever words I say
I will always love you
I will always love you
