Zulma Odette Bracero, 69 resident of Winter Park Florida, passed away on September 21st 2022. She was born in Yauco Puerto Rico on December 27th 1952 daughter to Angel Bracero and Ana Rodriguez. Zulma graduated at 15 years old from Liceo Interamericano Castro High School and earned multiple Bachelor’s degrees and a Master degree from the University of Puerto Rico. She was married to Angel Luis Morales on June 28th 1971 and widowed on December 19 1977. Later she was married to Edwin Carrillo on February 28th 1981.
Zulma started working as a makeup artist for Puerto Rican Television. She owned a specialty cakes business partnered with a high-end events venue, clubs, and resorts in Condado Puerto Rico. Zulma had a Bachelors in Biology and Ecology plus a Masters in Chemistry and worked for government labs. She was part of the team that rehabilitated the almost extinct Amazona Vittata (Puerto Rican Amazon). She was also a part of teams that helped rescue sea turtles and protect their nests. Zulma not only had a passion for learning, but also teaching, so she went and earned multiple Bachelors in Education and had a seven-year career in teaching, all grade levels and lastly children with disabilities. When living in Utah, she worked for the Federal government in labs and lastly the Post Office. Once in Florida, she made a career in and retired from the Department of Homeland Security.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Zulma had a passion for her faith in our Heavenly Father, her family, and friends. She loved to love! Zulma had a fascination with nature and outer space. She had interest and hobbies in theatre/Halloween makeup and costuming, sewing, swimming, hiking, camping, going to the movies, and really loved to get on roller coasters, amateur astronomy, impromptu outings, and going to the beach.
Zulma was self-less, caring, optimistic, adventurous, strong, kind; she aimed at making everyone’s life better, teaching her children and those she called her borrowed children, and serving God, truly a virtuous woman! All that she is, along with her smile, will certainly be missed!
Zulma was preceded in death by her father Luis, sister Ana Gloria and daughter Noemi. She was survived by her mother Ana, husband Edwin, two daughters Lymarie and Veronica, and her beloved grandchildren Christopher, Maria, Valerie, Zavdiel, Ezekiel, and Ethaniel.
Funeral arrangements will be held on Sunday, October 23rd from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Latter-Day Saints Chapel on 5449 North Dean Road, Orlando, FL 32817. 4:00 PM cemetery at All Faiths Memorial Park, 1390 Park Drive, Casselberry, FL 32707.
A visitation for Zulma will be held Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5449 N Dean Road, Orlando, FL 32817.
