William "Bill" Melvin Adamson, 88, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away peacefully and went to his eternal home in heaven on May 3, 2024, in Orlando, Florida. He was born on March 22, 1936, in Wetumpka, Alabama and was a devout Christian.
Bill moved to Central Florida when he was 14 years old and remained a country boy at heart to the very end. He fondly remembered Orlando before progress and commercialization took over. He spent endless hours hunting and fishing with friends in the orange groves of Orlando in the early 50’s. He met and married Judy Henderson in 1959 and they raised their four children in Winter Park, FL before moving to Clermont, FL in 1992. They returned to Winter Park in 2019.
Bill's career began in Orlando at Radiation Corporation. The vast majority of his career, however, was with Lockheed Martin (formerly Martin Marietta) where he was a Project Administrator until his retirement following more than 37 years of service. He held a BS from Howard College (Samford University, Birmingham, AL) and an MBA from Rollins College (Winter Park, FL).
Bill was loyal, fiercely patriotic, and loved his family, the music of Hank Williams, Sr., old cars, military aircraft, and Alabama football. He cherished time with family and friends and hosted many gatherings at his and Judy’s home on Lake Minnehaha in Clermont, FL and at the mountain cabin they built in Burnsville, NC.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Judy Adamson, children Terri Herrmann (Steve), Mel Adamson, and Amy Hall (Fil), grandchildren James (Hannah), Kyle, Kayla, Lexi, Colton, Nathan (Mirna), Joshua, Rachel, and Sarah, as well as 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Gayle Wasilewski. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.E. and Audrey Adamson, and daughter Ginny Adamson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 2:00 at The Stover Center at Westminster Winter Park Towers, 1111 S. Lakemont Ave., Winter Park, FL.
