Martin is survived by his loving daughter Lauren and husband, Kris Ferriola; sister Jackie Griffin and husband, Randy; two nieces, Tiffinia G. Cassady and Trista G. Gwaltney and husband, Brock along
with many dear friends.
Martin was born October 11, 1954 in Enterprise, Alabama. He graduated from Elba High School
where he played on their SAC Championship Team in 1972. After graduating from high school, he
attended Troy University, focusing on Criminal Justice.
Orlando became his permanent home in the late 70’s, moving there to develop and supervise
store openings for Popeye’s chicken. Martin’s friendship with the Orlando business owner Walter Updike, owner of Wally’s, led to a managing partnership in 1983. This partnership brought them numerous number one awards from the Orlando business community, leading to a meaningful friendship that lasted over 20 years.
Martin had a lifelong passion for Harley’s and fast cars. He loved riding motorcycles, collecting
unique knives, guns, eagles, and Native American treasures. His great love for these interests compelled him to research endlessly, and build a wealth of knowledge that he enjoyed sharing with others. Having such a kind heart, Martin relished opportunities to give away his most cherished items to those he loved.
A Celebration of Martin’s life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with
Pastor and friend, Thomas Hensley officiating. The service will be held at Union Park Christian
Church, 2119 Dean Road, Orlando, Florida.
