I'm so saddened to learn of his passing. My fondest memories of High School are of time spent with Jim and his parents. Everyday spent with Jim was full of fun and adventure.   He was my High School sweetheart and beyond. Forever in my heart and memories.

I am an across the street neighbor of Eula Harrison and her late husband, Jim Harrison.  For years I have fortunately witnessed total devotion that her son, Jim Harrison, displayed for his family.  He 
made time for them...in so many heartfelt ways. He walked the walk for mankind.  Their memories are written forever. 
His kind, thoughtful, strong, Let Go and Let God character is  a lesson of life.
He is missed...

Jim was, briefly, one of my early mentors here, at the Orange County Planning Division.  When the Planning Division was between Managers, Jim gave us valuable leadership.  I recall appreciating his calm, thoughtful and respectful style and, since then, he always had a pleasant greeting for me, as we passed, in the Admin. building's lobby.  We're thinking of you, Jim.

"Jimmy" was my cousin who I met on my very first trip to Florida in 1982 when my father and I came down from Indiana over Christmas break. We had a wonderful visit with him, James and Eula in Melbourne. I am sorry to hear of his passing.  



So happy to share this photo from an October 2016 trip to Miami for a look at the initial section of Brightline tracks in Miami.  Such  FUN and sincerity in those twinkling eyes 💙 I always told Jim his real name must have been Jim O’Harrison, since he was at least 50% Leprechaun! 💚 ☘️ Rest In Peace, Jim ❤️ We will remember you so fondly, and keep your spirit alive in our hearts. 

Through the years Jim consistently exhibited two extraordinary character traits that I have always felt should be emulated and cherished. One, despite his intellect, ability to tackle substantial issues and talent for distilling the complex into the understandable, Jim never sought the spotlight nor the cheering crowd--he was just so pleased to see the best outcome unfold and for others to excel and achieve.  He was selfless and supporting of others in every avenue of his life.
Second, Jim knew how to be happy and to look for joy in events and moments large and small.  Whether it be a pivotal moment in a presentation dealing with public policy or investment, a conference meeting meant to settle differences or playing a winning (or even losing!) poker hand, Jim had that “I know something that you don't know” twinkle in his eyes that said no matter what, the next moment was going to be fun.  He truly enjoyed each minute and movement of life with childlike wonder and enjoyment.  
Everyone should be so lucky to have a Jim Harrison in their life and every community would be so blessed to have a Jim Harrison in the midst of its civic affairs.  Those of us blessed to know Jim have had that good fortune, as does our Central Florida community which has benefitted from Jim’s gifts in so many lasting ways.  As Jim moves from our embrace and into the arms of the Lord, may he be given peace and grace for a job well done and may Heaven’s promise and comfort be wrapped tightly around the shoulders of Jim’s beloved Cheri, his mother, Eula, and sister, Michelle, and all those fortunate to share his friendship.


My deepest condolences to Jim’s family, friends, and colleagues. Jim touched my heart in the 12-short years that I had the honor to know him.  It was never a dull moment when we (Jim, Cheri, Ben, Annie, and J) were able to make time to visit, the room was always filled with laughter. My memories of you will forever remain strong. I will miss you, my friend.  

Jim was “Mr. Lynx” and wore his hot pink tie with pride. Such a good man and did so much for this community.  We will miss his smile and laugh the most.

Thank you for attending all the "Field days" I created for the operators, they loved seeing you come out an support them.  You will truly be missed here at LYNX.  I remember you telling me the reason you took this job at LYNX was so you could do some good for people.  Well, you definitely accomplished that!  We will continue to make you proud...

I first met Jim 23 years ago when he was the Manager of the Orange County Public Woks Department Engineering Division and interviewed me to be his Chief Engineer for the Engineering Section.  He was always a gentleman and always looked after his employees, the public and the interests of the County.  He served the County in many senior staff capacities with great skill in difficult and challenging times.  His passing is a great loss for everyone in this County, and has greatly saddened me.

I began work in the Orlando area in the early 90's, and Jim was one of the first persons that I met with Orange County after that. He was always friendly and willing to assist but he was also very focused on finding solutions that worked well for the public that he served. I was always impressed with Jim's work ethic and how he was able to find the middle ground and do the right thing for everyone.


Love you, Cuz!  Great memories of many good times with you over the years!  You mean so much to my family!  We will miss you.

After 50 years, memories of my friend Jim are many and precious. I miss him and will miss the future fun together in retirement we often talked about. To his mom, Mrs. Eula Harrison, Jim’s love, Cheri, and his sister, Shelly, and family I grieve your loss and pray for your strength and comfort going forward. Goodbye my dear friend, buddy, and brother. We’ll be slinging a frisbee on the beach again someday.
