She was born in Bolding, Arkansas to Robert and Mary (Graves) Adams on October 9, 1916. Second to the youngest, Agnes was the last surviving sibling of her nine brothers and sisters.
She graduated from, Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana where she met her future husband, James C. Trimble. Their 65 year marriage lasted until James died in 2007.
Minister's wife, mother, elementary school teacher, and poet were some of the roles she took on during her life. In 1970, she was one of the first teachers in Orange County to integrate a predominantly African American school. She retired from Ivey Lane Elementary in 1982.
Gourmet cooking, enjoying the performing arts, writing poetry, sewing, playing Scrabble, birding and summering in Vermont were some of her favorite pastimes. Spending time with her family and being out in nature were the things she treasured most.
She was a member of the Winter Park Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Orange County Retired Educators Association, and a member of First Congregational Church of Winter Park where she was involved with lay care.
Agnes is survived by her three daughters, Mary, Nancy and Jane (partner Robert), and many nieces and nephews. THANK YOU to Nancy who took care of both parents in their last stages of life; First Congregational Church of Winter Park; and Hospice of the Comforter staff, especially Natalie and Antoinette.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Agnes' name to the Jeremiah Project, First Congregational Church of Winter Park. This arts-oriented outreach program is available to at-risk young people in middle and high school in the Winter Park area. Donations may also be made to Hospice of the Comforter.
