James Loren Spangler, age 81, passed away on October 29, 2023 in Winter Haven, Florida. He was born on May 26, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late James Sweeney Spangler and Lenora Baldwin Spangler.
Loren was drafted during the Vietnam War and served his country in the United States Navy. He continued to serve others as a Lieutenant/EMT with the City of Miami Fire Department where he retired after 21 years. Loren and his wife Trudy moved to Key Largo, Florida where he was Broker/Owner of Spangler Properties, Inc.
Loren enjoyed the company of many friends and his sense of humor always incited constant outbursts of laughter. He was a jack of many trades and seemed to master them all. In his spare time Loren enjoyed boating, was a cartoonist as well as a freelance writer for various local magazines, had his private pilot’s license, was a musician and knew everything one could possibly know about cars, boats and planes.
Loren is survived by his wife Trudy Spangler of 51 years, his brother Vaughn Spangler and his wife Linda, cousins Kim Wilson and Susan Parker, sister-in-law Gabrielle Jackson and her husband Dave and his brothers-in-law Dieter and Gerry Schulz. Loren also leaves behind a multitude of friends who will miss him dearly with the laughter and friendship he brought to their lives.
