Lola was born December 9, 1942 on the Caribbean Island of Antigua to Ruby White and Charles Lewis. As a courageous young woman, she traveled to foreign locations where she had no family. A desire to create a better life for herself and her two children led her to relocate first to St. Croix, then to Canada, and later to New York. She established lifelong friendships and found herself along the way. She met and married Stanley Elliott in New York and eventually relocated to Orlando, Florida with him. She had a long career manufacturing event tents for Kirby Tent Rentals and United Rentals.
Her interests included taking an active role in helping to raise two of her granddaughters, Hailee and Sidney. She also loved to garden and sew. After suffering a mild stroke in 2004, she was determined and fought hard to regain her health and strength. Her favorite pastime was exercising 4 days a week with her peers at the YMCA Silver Sneakers group. Lola’s deepest passion was her grandchildren.
Lola Elliott is survived by her son Fitzhugh Kirwan, daughter Julia LeRiche, 6 grandchildren: Yohan Kirwan, Prince Kirwan, Felicia Kirwan, Hailee LeRiche, Sidney LeRiche, and Zavier Kirwan, 3 great- grandchildren, sisters Lorraine Isaac and Viola Thomas, brother Aubrey Lake, and respective nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers Walcott Lake and Leonard Hobbs, granddaughter Jahlissa Kirwan, and nephew Kelvin Shadrach.
May her soul rest in perpetual peace!
