Brenda Joyce (Harper) Fusté

Lewisville, NC – Mrs. Brenda Fusté, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024, after a brave battle against Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). She was born on January 3rd, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Maurine “Bevo” Hendricks Harper and Jerrell Herman Harper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Federico “Fred” Fusté; and her brother, Jerrell Thomas “Sonny” Harper.

She is survived by her daughter, Belinda Cortney Fusté-Herrmann (Michael) and only grandchild, Charles Alexander Herrmann; her three sisters: Barbara A. Lawrence and Shirley Cordera of Memphis, TN, and Geri King (Harley) of Oneonta, AL; two sisters-in-law: Ana Maria Fusté and Beatriz Morales (Manuel) of Miami, FL ; cousin: Patty Fields (Ken) of Ocean Springs, MS; cousins-in-law: Betty Querejeta and Miriam Serrate of Miami, FL; many beloved nieces and nephews; and friends.

Brenda graduated from Central High School in Memphis, TN and married her high school sweetheart, who she was married to for 53 ½ years. Together they had 6 miniature schnauzers which she spoiled between 1971-2021.

She worked at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Memphis, TN from 1966-1975. She then worked for Lewisville United Methodist Church for 21 years (1987-2008) starting with Mother’s Morning Out (where she created the Children’s Zoo), the Preschool, and the last 15 years in the After School Care Program bringing a lot of laughter to both children and staff with her many Halloween props and characters over the years.

Brenda was an incredible daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and animal lover. May she rest in eternal peace.

A Graveside Service will be held in the gazebo on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 1:00PM at Forysth Memorial Park, 3815 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem, NC, 27106.
