Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 49 years, Charles Kesler, daughters Jona, and Laura (Sean) and grandchildren Michael, Charlie and Chasey.
She was predeceased by her parents Helen and Lorne Johanson.
Wendy was born in Canora, Saskatchewan but moved to Selkirk, Manitoba where she spent her teen years.
She started her career working as a dental nurse in Gypsumville, MB before continuing her trade for the City of Winnipeg Dental Department, eventually moving on to a role as a city License Inspector.
Wendy enjoyed athletics. She was an accomplished water skier and jumper with the Selkirk Seals. Her greatest sporting love was curling. She played for decades out of the East St. Paul Curling Club, was a mainstay at bonspiels throughout the 80’s and 90’s and watched the sport religiously until her final days. She was so proud to see her grand daughters following her footsteps out of the hack and into the sport.
Wendy was a music aficionado. Few could name a song coming on the radio faster. Her idea of paradise was a night with friends, a rum in hand and Willie Nelson playing in the background.
She could also be a bit OCD when it came to cleaning. She loved to vacuum, so obsessed with the perfect job when she was done the carpet fibres all ran in the same direction.
After retiring Wendy and her husband Charlie made their cabin outside Lac du Bonnet a full time home, enjoying their waterfront property on the shores of Lee River.
Wendy was slowed in her later years by aggressive MS. Few were dealt a tougher hand health-wise, but no one fought harder.
Mom was always just a phone call away. It will be hard to get by without the everyday presence she brought to our lives.
We love you mom and we miss you so much.
A Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family at a later date.
A special thanks to the staff at East Gate Lodge for their kindness, compassion and exemplary care for mom and our family through the most difficult of times.
In lieu of flowers any donations can be made to MS Canada.
