He was predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years Wanda in 1983, and his brother William in 1988. Tom is survived by his children Robert (Sandra), John, and Sherry; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Tom served four years in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War including two years in England. After the war, he resumed his apprenticeship at the Manitoba Telephone System and retired in 1975 with thirty five years of service. Tom and Wanda were married in Winnipeg in 1947.
Summers were enjoyed at the cottage he built at Falcon Lake. The cottage stands as testament to his varied skills in design, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and masonry. During the winters he enjoyed travel and other hobbies including antique restoration, wood and soap stone carving, stained glass projects, watercolour painting, and volunteering with the Manitoba Telephone Pioneers. In 1986 Tom met Margaret Green on a Winnipeg Art Gallery Tour of France. They travelled extensively and both moved to The Wellington in 2007 and spent ten years there before Margaret passed away.
Many thanks to Dr. Blom and the staff of 2E at the Riverview Health Centre for caring for our dad. A private memorial service for family and close friends will be arranged.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
