He will be lovingly remembered by Jackie, his wife of 46 years, his sister-in-law Brenda Taylor and many relatives in Canada and the USA. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and June Dawson of Victoria, BC and in-laws Jack and Dorothy Taylor of Winnipeg.
Bob was born and lived most of his life in Winnipeg, with a short time spent in Victoria. He worked for 35 years in the steel distribution industry (Russell Steel, Namasco Steel, Samuel & Sons and Brunswick Steel) where he was well respected by his colleagues.
Bob lived a rich and fulfilling life. He was an active member of the Transcona Jaycees, serving at most local, regional and national executive levels. He was generous with his time, volunteering with CNIB, Harvest, PTE, Fringe Festival and Hospice and Palliative Care.
He was a skilled curler, a golfer (with a bad attitude), a great joke teller and a terrific dancer. He had a keen interest in world affairs and had unlimited knowledge about everything (you did not want to play Trivia Pursuit against him). Bob loved to travel the world with Jackie. He was a collector of single-malt scotch, a connoisseur of beer and wine which inspired him to be a winemaker for many years. He collected Hard Rock Cafe pins (asking his friends to buy pins when they travelled) and traded his pins all over the world. He loved to entertain and showcase Jackie's culinary talents, notably at their much-anticipated Christmas open houses for their many friends. Much to his own surprise, he became an avid cat person and loved all his felines.
Bob would like to thank his friends and family for all their help and Jackie for her undying love and care. He would also like to thank his Home Care attendants and nurses for their excellent care.
To honour Bob's wishes, there will be no service.
